Travel Bursaries
We are pleased to offer travel bursaries for around 10 individuals from "Global South” countries who have been accepted to present at the Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihoods: A Shared Future conference. The amount offered will differ depending on the awardee’s circumstances, but will aim to cover the majority or total cost of travel to and from the conference, as well as accommodation for the duration of the conference. Recipients of the travel bursary will also be exempt from paying the registration fee for the conference.
The Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihoods: A Shared Future conference will be held on the 12th and 13th of October at the DLA Piper offices in London, UK, and is organized by Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust (DWCT) and Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA). This event aims to foster engagement among those who work at the intersection of biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, and rural development globally.
Eligibility Information
To be eligible for the travel bursary, you must have been accepted to deliver a presentation at the Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihoods: A Shared Future conference, reside in the “Global South,” and work for a small-to-medium-sized organisation.
Application Process
To apply for the travel bursary, you must submit the application form, which will be made available to you once you have been accepted as a presenter. You will be asked to provide information outlining why you require the travel bursary and how you will benefit from attending the conference. You will also be asked to include an estimated travel budget, including e.g. airfare, accommodation, and other associated expenses. The conference organisers reserve the right to fund bursary applications in whole or part.
Deadline
The deadline will be provided in due course.
Review Process
Travel bursary applications will be reviewed by a committee consisting of representatives from DWCT and JOA. Bursaries will be awarded to those who the committee feel will benefit most from being able to attend, but who without financial assistance would struggle to do so. The degree to which other attendees and organisations will benefit from the applicant’s presentation will also be taken into account.
Funding Information
The travel bursary can contribute towards the cost of your return economy class travel to London, reasonable accommodation for the duration of the conference, and the conference registration fee. The funds will be disbursed to you in advance of your attendance upon the signing of an agreement.
