The Commissioners of Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA) are beginning the process of appointing a new Director following the very sad death of Simon Boas last month.

The Commissioners of Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA) are beginning the process of appointing a new Director following the very sad death of Simon Boas last month. This process will be conducted under the oversight of the Jersey Appointments Commission to ensure a competitive and fair selection of the next Director.

During this time, the Commission has appointed Ed Lewis as Interim Director. Ed was previously Head of Programme and JOA Deputy Director and has played a key role in the organisation’s development since joining in 2018. He has over 15 years of experience working in the development sector for organisations including the United Nations and European Commission. Much of his early career was spent in the Middle East where he worked in the Library of Alexandria and led cultural and media projects for the Anna Lindh Foundation. He is an accomplished journalist and has reported across the Middle East and North Africa for various media outlets including BBC Radio 4, The Guardian and The Royal Geographical Society.
