Through our volunteering and outreach activities, Jersey Overseas Aid facilitates the efforts of individuals and organisations in Jersey to learn about, and to provide, assistance to people in the world’s poorest countries.
Since 1972 Jersey has facilitated parties of volunteers to work with communities in developing countries for up to four weeks. As well as bringing lasting benefits to poor and vulnerable people, these projects serve to raise awareness in Jersey of global development issues. More than 1,000 islanders have completed over 100 projects in some of the world’s poorest communities.

Jersey Overseas Aid actively encourages islanders to get involved in overseas projects. Our two bursary programmes seek to financially support professionals, young people or career changers to exchange and share knowledge while learning new skills and experiencing new cultures.

The Jersey International Development Network is a forum that gives Islanders regular opportunities to learn more about overseas aid and how Jersey is making a difference on the international stage. It’s also a chance to join the dots of our philanthropic island, bringing together interested actors from charities, finance, government, philanthropy and the private sector.

We believe it is important for the youngest members of our community to understand how Jersey is helping people at times of crisis. We provide free school resources that are designed to encourage children of all ages to engage with a variety of global issues, including energy and climate change. We also run workshops in schools.

"This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Under the expert guidance of JOA, we seamlessly integrated into HFH’s mission, building two houses for the most vulnerable community members. While the impact on the beneficiaries was visible, this experience's profound effect on me and my personal development was beyond anything I could have anticipated."
